On Wednesday, we had our follow-up ultrasound for the new baby. The main reason for the 2nd ultrasound was to check on the placement of the placenta. At the first ultrasound, my placenta was lying low and covering a part of the cervix opening. If this continued, it would lead to Placenta Previa which means that if at least any part or all of the placenta was covering the cervix opening at the time of labor, severe bleeding could occur, and an cesarean is necessary.
Typically, however, due to the growth of the uterus as it moves up in the abdominal cavity...it usually brings the placenta with it. Good news for me on Wednesday - I'M STILL HAVING A HOME BIRTH! Yepee! So excited!! My placenta is far way from my cervix opening:)
After getting that great news....we also checked the rest of the baby:) Everything is perfect! We saw him for a few minutes in 4D because we were waiting on Dr. Willis to come in. His arms were up around his face most of the time and we saw his pupils looking side to side. It's been confirmed again - it's still a boy -hehe.
His heart looks great, kidney's working great - already full of urine, and he's an average size of 3 lbs. 2 oz. I have about 10 weeks to go. He will gain most likely almost a half a pound a week from here on out. Every time you see me, I will be noticeably bigger:)
Toby was excited to see the baby on the "TV". He said after the appointment, he was going to be a "Big Brother". I am going to start putting together his Big Brother Basket soon...a basket full of goodies and distractions for him during labor:) Heather did it with her boys and it was a great idea.
Love to all,
Kaley
