Holiday Weekend Fun and Leg #2

We've had a great couple of weeks! Two weeks ago, we went to Gainesville for Toby's 2nd leg casting and diagnostic fitting. It was a long day. This is usually several steps that takes several appointments, but Paul (our Prosthetist) is so wonderful - he accomodates us in one day so we don't have to come back. Toby did great...thank God for that thumb!

For Memorial Day weekend, the whole family went to the condo in Destin. It was Mama, Papa, all the Songers and us! We had a blast and all the cousins had so much fun playing together. When the rain finally stopped, there was night fishing, pool time, and hunting for minnows in the ocean. Here's Marcus and Freeman on the dock with a big flounder:) It was still a week or so until we were getting Leg #2 so we said what the heck...let's go ahead and let Toby wear his leg in the pool and the ocean. He was so happy that he could run into the ocean....and the freezing cold water didn't stop him! Daisy and Toby are really learning how to play well together and get to know eachother better. They were so funny... pushing eachother one minute, then hugging the next.

Yesterday, we went back to Gainesville to get Leg #2. I've really got to come up with a better name than that. The final fittings went great. It's amazing how perfect they make it for Toby. It's such a science. No doubt, it was much easier on us too because we knew what we were doing this time. It's so much bigger ... and heavy! I can't beleive he's growing so fast. It's almost twice the size and the foot is two sizes bigger too. Toby will have a little transition time to get used to it. It's the right height now...which he hasn't been used to lately with Leg #1 an inch too short....and the foot is bigger so he trips. It'll be no time and he'll be running again! Next Friday we are going to Ft. Lauderdale because Kaley has a Board Meeting. We will be gone a week. We are planning to stop in Orlando and go to Universal. That be fun!!

Right now, Toby is all into Balloons and Bubbles. He loves to play chase... well.... basically just run from us. He loves to tickle our chin and work in the garden with mommy. Toby just recently started walking on his knees when he doesn't have his prosthesis on. Just another one of those things. It's hilarious! We were so excited about this funky milestone, that we totally encourage it when he needs a "leg" break. Check out the video - he did this while waiting for his leg fitting yesterday! Hope all is well with everyone. Love you all, The Kings!
